The geodesic tents are the strongest of all types of tent structures whose poles repeatedly cross and provide strong stability and are ideal for use in harsh climates. Sometimes, for weight reasons, tent poles are reduced so that there are less than five poles crossing. Such a tent is called semi-geodesic tent. Many classic mountain tents use this structure.
